The "coaster" category includes traditional roller coasters, water coasters, and some kiddie coasters if the accident report narrative indicated a forceful ejection. view records
- Coasters account for 9% of fall/ejection
accident records. - 65% of coaster the falls/ejections involved children.
- Half of the children ejected from coasters were between the ages of 3-5.
- The other half were between 8-13.
- 45% of child ejections from coasters were attributed to equipment or operator failure.
- Of the ejection reports involving adult patrons:
- 50% involved significantly overweight patrons on high acceleration coasters with lap-only restraints.
- One of the adult ejections was caused by equipment failure/sabotage.
- The remaining two adult coaster reports cited misconduct as the cause of the ejection.
- Falls and ejections account for only 1% of all coaster accident reports provided to Saferparks.
