Injury Trends for Inflatable Amusement Devices
- Injury peak plateau at ages 3 through 7.
- Most common accidents are caused by collisions with other patrons and falls or awkward landings.
- Most serious accidents are caused by equipment/operator failure (i.e., tip-overs, blow-overs, collapses), and patrons falling out of device onto something hard.

The following table lists the types of inflatable amusement devices included in public accident reports provided to Saferparks by state regulatory agencies. Note that regulatory oversight of inflatables is quite limited in the United States, with little public reporting of injuries. The low number of inflatable injury records in the Saferparks Database is due to the difficulty in collecting data, not a dearth of actual injuries. Hospital records from the CPSC's hospital ER injury surveillance system are a better source of data for this type of amusement device.
